Close to the historical city and academic haven of Oxford with its university that dates back to 1188 and has produced some of the world’s wisest and great. Visitor attractions include many of the city’s beautiful buildings such as The Bodleian Library, Pitt Rivers Museum and The Ashmolean. The views across the rooftops from Carfax Tower or the church tower of St Mary the Virgin are well worth the long climb. A camera is essential as you’ll be snapping non-stop. Take a trip along the river from Folly Bridge to pretty Iffley Lock; take a trip on a tourist bus, or commandeer a punt and glide through Christchurch Meadows. There are hundreds of points of historical interest to experience when you stay at one of our Oxfordshire holiday cottages, set within four acres of riverside grounds at the very edge of Oxford.
On entry to the lodge, through a lobby, you will find a large open plan living space. The lounge/kitchen/diner is airy and welcoming. The lounge area has comfy places to sit and unwind in front of the TV/DVD at the end of a day of exploration. A few feet away is the dining area with a table large enough for six diners. The kitchen area is equipped with electric oven and gas hob, hi-fi, microwave, dishwasher, and fridge/freezer. There is a utility room containing a washing machine and tumble dryer. The three bedrooms includes two doubles, one with a queen-size bed and an en-suite bathroom with shower. The third bedroom is a twin. Nearby is the main bathroom with a shower over bath and WC.
Outside the accommodation is a lawn and further access to four acres of gardens. Full of bird life, it’s a quaint spot to recharge and make plans for the rest of the stay in Oxford. Some lodges in the complex have riverside views, while each cottage has its own private garden area with garden furniture and a BBQ, and access to the riverside gardens which are set behind a private gated entrance. A punt or fishing can be arranged in advance (please enquire), as well as weekly cleaning, secretarial, and advance grocery order services.
