This historic hideaway is a delightful spot for a couple to enjoy time out together in an unspoiled corner of rural Suffolk. Wickham Market is a lovely village for a stroll and browse round craft, antique and other independent shops, stopping for a drink in one of many cafes and restaurants. Shop for fresh local produce at the lively open-air market held every Wednesday. Explore the country landscape on walks and cycle trails or by horseback from the local riding stables. Visit Framlingham Castle (5 miles), a magnificent 12th-century castle steeped in history, with 13 towers connected by a massive curtain wall. See reliable green energy in action at Woodbridge Tide Mill (5.5 miles) and discover the remarkable story of a fabulous Anglo-Saxon treasure trove at the National Trust’s Sutton Hoo (5 miles). There are beautiful walking trails and picnic spots to enjoy here, and lovely views across the River Deben.

The cosy lounge of this well-preserved little mill is full of character and charm, with a wealth of splendid original beams. Simply furnished, with a comfortable two-seater sofa and a sofa bed, it has a TV for cosy nights in. A pretty white table and chairs for two provide a romantic dining spot and French doors open to a garden. A light and bright conservatory extension houses the country-style kitchen, with a door leading out to a suntrap patio. A shower room with a cubicle and WC are also on the ground floor. A wooden staircase with open treads leads to the double bedroom with an en-suite cloakroom and WC. This is a gorgeous room, with exposed ceiling beams, lovely far-reaching country views, and a beautiful white, wrought-iron bed furnished with soft bed linens and lace.

While the mill stands in the owner’s grounds, it has its own suntrap patio area outside with garden furniture.

This is a lovely, quirky cottage. The area is lovely and the owners are very friendly and welcoming. The equipment supplied covers all eventualities, in fact, I don't think there is anything that has not been covered. The welcome pack supplied by the owners was a lovely surprise. We had a great time here and would certainly consider returning.

Lovely compact cottage but with all anyone could want in it. Owners were friendly but not intrusive, they recommended somewhere to eat on our first night which was a hit. Pretty central for most tourist attractions.

A beautiful and unique property, in a great location and centre for exploring a wide area of the coast and countryside. A very private hide-away, but the owners were on hand should anything be needed. Shops for essentials were also just a ten minute walk away. My favourite nearby location was Woodbridge (5 miles away) where there was plenty to sRead moreee and do, and a wonderful river-side walk to get away from everything (bird-watching excellent especially at low tide). Recommended without reservation. Hide
