There are four sandy beaches on the island, all with amazing views. The nearest (200 metres) is perfect for sunrise and sunset strolls. Look out for the occasional grey seal and dolphin in the water too. Head to Lindisfarne Priory, once home of St. Cuthbert (less than half a mile) and see the charming harbour on your way to exploring the 16th-century Lindisfarne Castle (0.5 miles). Spend time in the Gertrude Jekyll Garden also (0.5 miles). Discover England’s northernmost historic town of Berwick-upon-Tweed (13.5 miles), while Bamburgh Castle, beach and village are a must-visit (16.5 miles). Book a boat trip to the Farne Islands from Seahouses (19.5 miles) to see an array of seabird species, grey seal colonies and puffins.

Step inside this lovingly refurbished and tastefully furnished, spacious cottage to find a bright and welcoming atmosphere in the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. There are windows to the front and rear flooding light into the living space. The lounge has a large, comfortable sofa and a rocking chair to relax on in front of the wood burner for cosy evenings, while a Smart TV stands ready for movie nights. There is a well-equipped kitchen with all you need to whip up a holiday feast, and the dining area has plenty of seating so you can enjoy a delicious meal together. Open the French doors in the warmer months to enjoy outside/inside living. The two bedrooms are upstairs. The double bedroom has a large, south-facing window. You will find plenty of storage space for your things, an accent chair, and a hairdryer. The tranquil twin bedroom overlooks the rear garden. With underfloor heating, the well-appointed family bathroom comprises a shower over the bath and completes the interior.

Extremely clean and tidy throughout. Every convenience present in the kitchen and extensive heating and radiators to keep the cottage toasty warm. Right in the centre of the island ten yards from the Ship Inn and a minutes stroll to the sea. We loved it and would definitely book again.

This is a lovely cottage with one of the best quality equipped kitchens we have seen. Lots of quality utensils and the microwave, oven, dishwasher and washing machine were easy to use but there is also a comprehensive list of instructions in the welcome book. The fridge is a small one with a single box freezer which we didnt realise and we had ordeRead morered a food delivery with too much frozen food but were able to keep most of it. The dining area is on wooden benches and stools with plenty of room for upto 4 people. The living area has a 2 seater sofa and a single chair. The wood burning fire was just lovely especially in the new year cold temperatures we had. The individual electric heating system worked perfectly so we could align the right temperature to each room where needed. The bathroom was superbly clean with two towels provided per person. The electric shower ran super hot water and while not overly powerful, it certainly did the job. The 2 singles bedroom had no cupboard for hanging clothes, perhaps a small one where the shelves and rocking chair are kept would serve the room better. The master room had a double bed that has a foot board and so anyone tall might struggle but all the mattresses and pillows were very comfortable indeed. The rooms were very quiet aswell with not much noise heard from outside. There is no allocated parking but we were able to park 2-3 cars up the road. The one time we did get parked outside the cottage (which we had hoped to get for when repacking the car) was soon taken again by the local resident over the road who didnt like us parking in their spot, oh dear! And so we had to pack up the car in the heavy rain which wasnt ideal. All in all, this cottage is beautifully decorated and presented and in a fantastic location on the island, a couple of doors from the nearest pub and just around the corner from the lovely post office/cafe ( who make the best home made sausage rolls and quiches!) There are always going to be suggestions for little improvements but none of what we found would put us off from staying here again. Thankyou to the owners for sharing this lovely little cottage. The Cottage was beautifully clean and so were all the utensils, pans etc. which, when we have gone on other holidays, sometimes we have had to wash everything before cooking.

This is a really beautiful cottage that has just been renovated. The kitchen, one of the best-fitted kitchens I have stayed in, is very generous with the available equipment. My husband has recently been in the hospital, and it was the perfect place for him to rest and recover. Although we have visited Holy Island often, we have never stayed, and Read morewe realised it's a different, relaxing experiencegreat local food is on your doorstep. We ate at the ship, which was a few doors down. The Crown and Anchor try the crab bisque they could eat dailyGelato from Pilgrims. On the final day, we visited the Post Office for bacon rolls and discovered their fabulous quiches and baked goods. We will be back to stay at Tidal Cottage. It was only an hour from home, but I felt a million miles away. Hide
