A bijou barn conversion in a charming setting with other holiday properties, this delightful bolthole is perfect for a couple seeking to escape from it all. Sleeping two guests, the one-bedroom retreat nestles in a valley with a myriad of footpaths and walking routes to follow and is less than 1 mile from Harboro Rocks, a dolomite, limestone hill with picturesque views. Venture 2.5 miles into the Peak District, with its opportunities for hiking, climbing and other outdoor activities. Visit Minninglow, 4 miles away, in the national park, where a collection of ancient tombs are set in woodland on a hill top with a distinctive double ring of beech trees. Visit Matlock, 6 miles away, to shop and dine out.

Step into the barn to find sumptuous interiors with features such as a flagstone floor, natural wood and an exquisite palette of paint colours with an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. The lounge area is an elegant space, where you can settle down together in front of the Smart TV, and the kitchen/diner has all the equipment you need for preparing homecooked meals for two and sitting down to dine together. The gorgeous bedroom has a super-king-size bed and the adjacent shower room also has a stylish finish.

There is a sun-soaked patio to the front of the barn, where guests can relax with a cup of tea and a book or fire up the barbecue. There is also access to the surrounding fields for walks.

An excellent cottage for two, well equipped and definitely off grid. It has all mod cons and is very cosy. The bed is huge (double queen) and very comfortable, something that is a problem with many rentals - not here. To get away from the world, it is ideal and the sky is dark so skywatching is ideal provided it is warm and clear. One of the best Read morewe have stayed in. Hide

Really beautiful bungalow set in glorious countryside. Extremely clean and well looked after. Would of given top marks for equipment except for the shower floor. The shower itself is brilliant but the wet floor idea is very poor! The water just doesn't drain away and consequently the whole bathroom floods to literally 1 inch deep. The water even rRead moreeached under the washing machine! It then takes an age to drain away and it is then impossible for someone else to use the toilet or have a shave. Recommend that the outflow is improved, a proper shower tray installed and a proper side and door installed. 9.5 out of 10 for the rest of the bungalow. I've clicked on no for recommendation purely because of the shower. Hide

My review is the same as the one I did yesterday (14 May 24) for New Harborough Farm, apart from one key point for the bungalow. The shower room needs sorting out. The shower works well but there's not sufficient glass or surround and so it floods about 1/3 of the floor, which then stays wet for hours. That's even when you turn the shower off to shRead moreampoo/soap and direct it into the furthest corner!! Other than that excellent. Hide

I gave a 4 for equipment because the very posh kettle had metal parts of the handle which got very hot and it was too easy to scald oneself. Comfort also scored 4 because the stone floor was really cold on bare feet, and during cold days the cottage was not warm. We found the heating controls a bit hit and miss, I guess we should have made more useRead more of the instruction pamphlets, didn't check there for the heating. It would have been helpful if heating instructions were made obvious. Hide

The pictures on the website didnt showcase the properties beautiful features enough!! That is the only reason for my first score, it was a very homely place to stay with the comfiest bed in the world and very beautiful surroundings.

Everything is perfect but a DVD Player and suggestion visitors bring DVDs as TV reliant on WIFI and this is tricky in the area also we could only access programs on BBC I player - no other station and this was intermittent but the weather was very cold and frosty so that could be why. However lots of books to read :) One of the best-equipped and Read morefriendly cottages we have stayed at and such a lot to do in the area.
