A romantic bolthole for two, this one-bedroom cottage is an idyllic escape. It sits just outside the hillside village of Kirk Ireton and is surrounded by green fields and hills as far as the eye can see. The nearest town, Wirksworth, is 3 miles away and here you will find lots of picture-postcard buildings and narrow lanes full of history. There are also plenty of attractions including the Wirksworth Heritage Centre, The Northern Light Cinema and Bar, plus Alport Height – perfect for a romantic picnic with a view.

The property is set out all on one level. You enter the open-plan lounge/diner/kitchen with a vaulted beamed ceiling. Take a seat on one of the leather sofas, light the wood burner and settle in for a night in front of the TV/DVD. A compact, modern, fully equipped kitchen offers everything needed for a self-catering stay, while a table and chairs offers the perfect spot to dine. The next room is the cosy bedroom with a wooden king-size bed, built-in hanging space and a chest of drawers. You then have the shower room with a spacious shower cubicle and WC.

The garden is a wonderful place to relax, with a lawn and table and chairs and far-reaching views. The surrounding scenery is tranquil and full of nature.

This cottage was the best we have stayed in, spotlessly clean, fantastic views could imagine in the summer siting in the garden would be great, and relaxing, situated with easy reach of lots of places to visit, highly recommend!

This was our first visit to Derbyshire. The owners live next door & met us on arrive & were very welcoming. The welcome goodies were very much appreciated after our journey. The cottage met all our needs & more. Although the weather was a little unkind we found Topshill Cottage to be warm & cosy - we didn't even make use of the wood burner.

The cottage is beautiful, well equipped including a coffee pod machine, fabulous power shower and with thoughtful touches such as fleece blankets for chilly times in the garden and a welcome gift of bread, milk, butter and flapjack from the village community shop. The cottage was immaculately clean and incredibly welcoming. It feels very secluded and private yet the hosts are next door if you need them. This was one of our favourite cottages so far. It was exceptional. The instructions made it easy to find and it did not disappoint in any way. Perfect cottage, spotlessly clean and the view is amazing. We have had a great holiday at Topshill, lots of walks and then lovely evenings relaxing in the cottage. Hosts are lovely and the welcome pack had a nice Easter surprise. Our spaniel was well catered for and found the local pheasants very entertaining.

Excellent cottage. They were happy to offer 3pm arrival time (which we were grateful for, but didn't request it due to explicit instructions from Derby Cottages). I did get a bit bored of receiving so many emails from Derby Cottages about it all though! Really enjoyed our holiday. The cottage was spotless and our hosts were extremely helpful and fRead moreriendly and it was easy to charge our car overnight. The cottage was warm and spacious, and very well equipped. Great shower, and lovely to have a fully-equipped kitchen. Quick broadband too. Very helpful to have a little private area to let the dog out into, last thing at night. It was also really nice to have a private bit of garden, rather than being overlooked as often happens with barn conversions.
