A small, ground-floor annexe in a quiet lane next to the owner's bungalow, this getaway makes a homely base for couples to enjoy a peaceful break amidst East Devon’s spectacular countryside and coastlines. Located in the small village of Sidford, you can easily visit the Regency seaside town of Sidmouth (2.5 miles) that sits on the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Relish a relaxing day at the Sidmouth’s Blue Flag-awarded beach, stroll the esplanade, visit famous Connaught Gardens and indulge in Devon cream teas at the town’s cafes. Walking fan? You can reach Sidmouth from Sidford on foot via The Byes Riverside Walk (2 miles) through scenic parkland, flower meadows and fields alongside the water. Once you reach Sidmouth, you can join the South West Coast Path for rambling along the Devon coastline.
The refurbished annexe has a simple, cosy style that’ll make you feel right at home, starting with the inner hall featuring charming bunting and plants. There’s a well-equipped kitchen where you can brew your morning coffee in the cafetiere and sip at the breakfast bar. Take two steps down to the sitting room where you’ll find a dining table and chairs for peaceful meals for two. Settle on the sofa or in the rocking chair beside the wall-wide, floor-to-ceiling double doors (that slide apart to lead to the courtyard) where you can gaze out at garden views. A TV and games will ensure you’re entertained all holiday. The double bedroom features a bow window overlooking the front. A door from there leads to the large lobby area with clothes storage space. Enjoy a soak after your outdoor pursuits in the bathroom featuring a shower over a bath.
The sitting room’s patio doors lead outside. Take three steps down to the rear, enclosed courtyard: a fenced-off, paved area with a BBQ, table and chairs for al fresco dining with lovely countryside views. There’s also the possibility for guests to occasionally use the owner’s lawn garden next door, accessed via the courtyard gate.
