In a quiet spot on the outskirts of the village of Ludgvan, this timber lodge sits in delightful gardens overlooking a water lily-festooned pond humming with wildlife. Inspired by the essence of an oriental tea house, this retreat features a minimalist layout that epitomises peace and tranquillity, providing a much-needed escape from the bustle of daily life. Offering picturesque views of the valley, it seamlessly merges into the lush landscape, creating a harmonious and serene environment. Just under 3 miles distant is the coastal village of Marazion home to St Michael’s Mount rising majestically from the sea. Visit Penzance (4 miles) and book a visit to the Jubilee Pool – the UK’s largest art deco sea water lido and geothermally heated pool. Along the coast, the port of Newlyn (6 miles) is home to some great fish restaurants and Mousehole with its picturesque harbour is worth exploring (8 miles).

Enter the lodge from the decking through the double French doors into the kitchen. On fine days open the doors and bring the outside in. Large picture windows throughout allow plenty of light to flood in but privacy is assured in this tucked-away location. The kitchen comes fully equipped for dining in and a doorway leads through to the spacious living room with a beamed ceiling and triple-aspect windows offering delightful views of the pond. Adorned with antique oriental furnishings and a generously sized leather sofa with two armchairs, this room is a haven for relaxation. Similarly, the double bedroom boasts triple-aspect windows with serene views over the pond, and rugs and polished bamboo flooring continuing the Japanese theme. A contemporary shower room exudes a tropical ambience, courtesy of its half-glazed ceiling, offering a glimpse of lush fronds from a New Zealand Tree Fern gracefully extending overhead. The indulgent double-head shower, complemented by the elegance of marble flooring and the comfort of underfloor heating for cooler days, completes the amenities, all in all ensuring a delightful place to stay.

Step out onto the deck provided with all-weather cane easy chairs plus a small dining set for al fresco meals enabling guests to linger in this peaceful sun trap whilst listening to the sounds of nature surrounding them. Graduated steps with a curved handrail lead you through an archway down to the parking area or alternatively, a second step-free route is possible via a slight incline off to one side. From your doorstep enjoy access to the 5-acre private woodlands and tropical gardens, inviting you to wander freely along the footpaths and observe the diverse wildlife that calls this place home. Keep an eye out for the enchanting sight of badgers, foxes, squirrels, bats and nesting buzzards whilst being captivated by the beauty of exotic plants sourced from various corners of the globe. You may even get the chance to hand-feed visiting creatures from the deck of the lodge so bring peanuts.

Water Lily Pond Lodge (aka The Tea House) is the most magical place. It's enchanting, quirky and quaint and we loved it. The woodland surrounding it feels like your very own private woodland and we would love to visit again in the spring, when the bird life is probably amazing! Will definitely return, thank you!

The Tea House is a lovely little wooden chalet built over a Lily Pond. Set in the middles of the woods. A very unique and peaceful setting. The owner kindly decorated with balloons and left a bottle of bubbly as we were celebrating an anniversary. A lovely relaxing holiday.

Fantastic location and central for a lot of attractions, the Tea House is cozy and a great base to see Cornwall and its many beaches, it's not the biggest place but full of character. St Ives, Mouse hole and St Michaels Mount, all within easy reach.

We had a wonderful stay at the tea house, the space is small but incredibly cosy and intimate with all the amenities you need. The garden is stunning and You feel completley isolated which is a rare thing and makes it extra special and perfect for star gazing or trips to the coast line. The host was wonderful and surprised us with some little extraRead mores such as decorations for a suprise birthday trip. A perfect place for a couple looking to escape. Hide

Really nice, very homely. There was a little mix up at the start of our stay but the owners were very apologetic and accommodating, honestly they couldn't have done more. Myself and my girlfriend are super happy with our stay and we will look to be booking again in the future.
