This wonderful converted stables is perfect for couples or friends seeking a peaceful rural retreat. Located in the south-west of the Peak District National Park, the cottage sits at the edge of the charming village of Onecote in the tranquil Staffordshire Moorlands countryside. Stroll along footpaths, bridleways and lanes or cycle through the beautiful scenery of the Manifold and Tissington Trails. Explore villages, historic sites and the natural beauty of England’s first National Park. Nearby are The Roaches (6.5 miles) for climbing and walking, and Rudyard Lake (11.5 miles) for boat trips, miniature steam railway rides and refreshments at the waterside cafe. Just 4 miles away is the lively town of Leek, known for its arts and crafts heritage, antiques shops and weekly and monthly markets. There are plenty of pubs, cafes, and restaurants to discover. The attractive spa town of Buxton (14.5 miles), elegant Ashbourne (12.5 miles) and the popular Alton Towers Theme Park (8.5 miles) are all easy to reach by car.

On entering the cottage, you are greeted by a well-planned kitchen/diner that's brilliantly equipped. Whether you're in the mood for a quick snack or a celebratory feast, the kitchen has everything you need to prepare delicious food during your stay. Sit at the table and plan your activities or reflect on the day’s events while enjoying your meals. When the fancy takes you, retire to the lounge and sink into the comfortable sofa. Two picture windows (one is also a door to the patio) offer lovely views across the fields and create a peaceful atmosphere in which to settle down and switch off. With underfloor heating throughout the cottage and a wood burner to keep you snug, you'll feel at home even when the weather is chilly outside. For entertainment there’s a smart TV, Bluetooth speaker, and a great selection of games and jigsaws. The sofa doubles up as a second bed with a quality sprung mattress, which can be utilised as required. Upstairs you'll find the peaceful bedroom, which offers the perfect sanctuary for a relaxing stay complete with thoughtfully chosen furniture. The solid oak king-size bed ensures you will have a comfortable and restful night's sleep, so you can wake up feeling refreshed and ready to start your day. Across the landing is the spacious bathroom. Whether you want to liven up in the generously sized shower or prefer a leisurely soak in the double-ended bath with a lovely view from the window to enjoy, indulge yourself - the choice is yours.

Outside is a lovely stone-paved south-facing garden, a real sun trap which looks out over the fields and up the valley. Enjoy balmy summer days and evenings al fresco at the wooden table and chairs or bask on teak ‘steamer’ sun loungers. There’s a charcoal BBQ in the small shed which also stores the chairs and cushions. The outhouse under the stone steps houses the washer/dryer and all the other laundry essentials along with a small freezer so there’s always plenty of ice for long cooling drinks.

Another great stay at Chancery Cottage. The cottage is super cosy and well appointed with every home comfort you could wish for. The quality of this cottage is first class. An excellent stepping stone to so many of the Peak District trails and towns. Walking distance to a lovely pub, but by far the best was how wonderful the cottage was. Nothing to worry about, and so peaceful.
