A beautiful gem with far-reaching country views, this gorgeous cottage is just over a mile from Matlock. Riverside walks through Matlock and Matlock Bath await, with great cafes and restaurants, to enjoy along the way. Matlock has a busy local high street and quirky shops, and a larger array of restaurants meet you on Dale Road which leads into Matlock Bath. The adventurous among you can climb to the heights of High Tor, or take the cable car to the Heights of Abraham and enjoy a cavern tour and ariel view restaurant. The real ale drinkers among you can find a local inn just a mere 0.5 miles away from the cottage, and nearby Smedley Street boasts two real ale pubs, one with a microbrewery. Also on your doorstep is the stunning Chatsworth Estate with house, gardens, farm shop and an array of seasonal events including outdoor concerts, a country fair and the fabulous Christmas markets.

The property is set over three floors. Walking down the path at the back of the property, you enter into the ground-floor lounge. Beautiful touches like fairy lights, games and books make for a great space to relax and play. There is a lovely ornamental fireplace and lots of information about the local area on the bureau. Walking upstairs you enter a second lounge, beautifully decorated with a wood burner just begging to be lit, while you sink into the comfortable sofa. There is also a large dining table with more than enough space for two. In the kitchen, take time to appreciate the Mandale Limestone above the cooker – a beautiful nod back to a time when Matlock was underwater, with visible fossils and stunning details in the stone. Walking upstairs, you are met with a spacious bedroom, featuring a king-sized bed, plenty of storage, an ornamental fireplace, and a table and a chair to enjoy the views. There is a family bathroom next to the bedroom, offering two shower heads over a bath, one with a drenching spray.

Outside, the views at the rear of the property are incredible. There is a lovely, enclosed garden with seating and dog exercise area – located over the quiet road from the front of the cottage, and there is private parking for one car.

This is a cosy little cottage in a lovely part of Matlock with 2 very friendly pubs within a short walk. (The Laburnum is only open Thursday to Sunday and has a food truck on Saturday, The Thorn Tree does a good Sunday roast and pie night on Thursday!) The area for dogs is across the road which we hadn't realised, but is actually a nice space with Read moregreat views. Also, just for information, dogs are not allowed in the bedroom, just in case that's what your dog is used to. Hide

Beautiful, cosy, clean little cottage. Very well equipped with a comfy bed and amazing views from the back windows. We would definitely stay again if we didnt have the dog with us and thats only because we couldnt let him out for a quick toilet break, late night and early morning, without having to put his lead on and go with him.

Lovely holiday home in a great location. It was the first time we had taken our puppy on holiday. It worked out well, but for other dog owners I would say its better suited to a smallish dog thats not overly active. Fantastic to be a few minutes walk from the Laburnum Arms, although like many eating and drinking places only open at the end of the wRead moreeek. And the Sycamore a bit further along did a fabulous pie! Only a short drive to local attractions and some nice walks close by. Hide
