  • Charming chocolate-box cottage located in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
  • Originally built around 1450 but offers light and bright accommodation for couples
  • Bistro table and chairs in the cottage garden, perfect for summer stays
Property code: 83845

Lovingly refurbished, this picturesque cottage boasts light and airy accommodation mixed with traditional charm, the perfect getaway for couples. Coastal resorts and countryside are both within easy reach.

This quaint country cottage is Grade II listed, dating back to 1450 and conveniently located on the main road in the heart of the village of Sedlescombe. It is within a short stroll of the 15th-century gastropub, village shop with the post office, and an antique shop. Keen walkers and their dog will enjoy exploring the many footpaths over the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and for those looking to explore slightly further afield, the towns of Hastings and Rye are both a 5-mile drive and have much to offer visitors, from the host of quirky antique shops and cobbled streets in Rye to the beachfront and fresh fish stalls in Hastings. Royal Tunbridge Wells is nearby for excellent shopping opportunities and historic Battle is a great place to visit with its ruined abbey and battlefields.

You enter this cosy cottage into the welcoming hallway, with space for dropping off coats and shoes, and the lounge can be found to the right of the front door. This room is comfortably furnished with a sofa and armchair where you can get comfy around the gas flame-effect fire and put a film on the Smart TV with DVD. The dining table is here too with comfortable seating for two to enjoy meals together after a day exploring the area. Continue to the kitchen, where the low beamed ceiling means it has retained much of its original charm whilst offering everything the cook needs, including an electric double oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, and washer/dryer. The stable backdoor opens out from the kitchen onto an enclosed cottage garden. The bathroom is located on the ground floor, with a hand-held shower over the bath and WC. Narrow, steep cottage-style stairs lead to the first floor where there is a pretty double bedroom with a view over the front garden.

Heading outside, there is a typical cottage-style garden, which has a bistro table and chairs for al fresco meals, and the rear garden gate gives access to the private parking area for one car.

A lovely, cosy cottage , which is ideal for a relaxing break. Ideally placed, not only for local walks from the village, but within easy travelling to the coast and places of interest to visit. Very dog friendly, with a secure garden. Pub, with good food and village shop only a short walk away. Would definitely recommend.

Robins Nest is a very lovely cottage - ideal for two, comfortable and well equipped plus a pretty garden. The Hastings bus service stops just outside and its a short walk to the pub (good food good beer) and to the well stocked village shop. Its a great location for visiting local attractions e.g. Great Dixter, Batemans and Hastings.

Perfect little cottage in a perfect little Village. I love both the rural and 'high street' location. Perfect for a lone woman who doesn't care to be in the middle of nowhere on her own! Host couldn't be more considerate. I've been twice and have booked another visit for April 2025.

Quaint cottage, tastefully decorated. Perfect position for exploring East Sussex. Maybe not really suitable for people with mobility problems as the staircase is very steep as the cottage is old. Nice small garden, and off road parking at rear. Pub and hotel close, both doing good food.

Well equipped cottage with good off-road parking and garden space, dog friendly. Very helpful owner. Great location for striking off to Rye, Battle, Hastings and wider area, abundance of National Trust properties close to hand. Steep stairs common to small cottages but good hand railing assists. Would be happy to re- book.

Beautiful little cottage well maintained and in a great location. A real home from home with everything you need for a comfortable holiday. The cottage is full of character. Stairs are steep typical of a property of this style and age but might not be ideal for those with limited mobility. Our little dog did not want to use them !!

This is a charming cottage that was spotlessly clean throughout. It is on quite a busy road, but we didn't really notice the traffic when we stayed. There were some delicious treats for us and our dog on arrival and the owners had thoughtfully provided milk too. The garden is lovely - a sun trap for morning coffee and a space for dogs to enjoy.
