You’ll find it hard to leave this idyllic location, where you have access to footpaths that will guide you across the local countryside, you can enjoy views across the Usk Valley and Welsh Mountains as you meander across the meadows. And at the base of the hill you have the vibrant market town of Monmouth, with its mixture of elegant Georgian mansions and Victorian courtyards, offering shops, pubs and restaurants. The area is also rich in heritage, with many castles including Monmouth, Goodrich and Raglan Castles, and numerous beautiful churches including the remains of the stunning Tintern Abbey, just a short drive away. Other attractions include Clearwell Castle and Caves, Puzzle Wood and Symonds Yat.

Meander through the ancient apple orchard where if you look back you can enjoy the stunning view across the Usk valley. This restored stone bothy offers an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, you will step into the kitchen area, finished with traditional units and wooden work tops, the space is well-equipped with electric oven and hob and fridge. The lounge/dining area is simply perfect for relaxing, the dining area with microwave in the dining area cupboard and washing machine and table and chairs works well for a simple supper after a long day exploring, whilst the lounge area benefits from a traditional wood burner, large comfortable sofa and Smart TV/DVD. There is also a double sofa bed available upon request. Also for balmy summer evenings the French doors have stunning views. So, when the day is done you will find a double bedroom where you can enjoy a good night’s rest and enjoy the garden views. There is also a shower room with shower and WC.

Open the French doors and step down onto the patio, the perfect place to enjoy a leisurely breakfast in the morning sun or an evening meal using the BBQ. There is a wooden swing chair where you can relax in the early evening sun with a good book. The gardens give access to an established orchard. There is off-road parking for two cars.

Had a wonderful time at Pig's cote and would like to return. The space was lovely all the instructions were great. Appreciated the what 3 words location as made it simple to find. Was a lovely winter stay and would love to experience it in summer or spring too.

Lovely small cottage in a beautifully quiet and picturesque setting. Attractively furnished and cosy for our stay in late October. Lots of walking in the immediate area and the ample amenities offered by nearby Monmouth.

The property is definitely off the beaten track, but the instructions provided directed us straight there. Lovely weather enabled us to eat lunch outside and and admire the view. Our dogs enjoyed the walks we found for them at Whitestone, Cannop, Mallard's Pike and further afield. We had a couple of good meals at the Lion Inn just down the road in Read moreTrellech when not preparing meals in the cottage. Hide

Perfect setting for a getaway, very peaceful and quiet but only a few minutes drive to Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean Would recommend, the cottage is well equipped and secure garden for the dog

Peaceful and beautiful surroundings. The cottage is lovely and makes you feel at home immediately. It is a private and really quite place in the hills of Wye valley. Only birds and sheeps. We loved it.

The cottage is down a narrow lane which is uneven in places so proceed with caution, but it's well worth it when you arrive. You park up and walk through a small orchard to the cottage, which is very comfortable and well-equipped in a lovely location. We saw a woodpecker, buzzards and a white hart on the solstice, magical. Cottage is in a beautiful, peaceful location on a farm so be prepared for lots of gates to open and close. Laneway to property not suitable for low vehicles as has large dip partway along. Garden is fenced but as mentioned by others small dogs can easily escape and only secure for larger dogs. Cottage is comfortable with a good shower and comfortabRead morele bed. No wardrobe and dresser a bit smelly so lived out of suitcase. Well equipped kitchen but had some issues with the fridge smell. Hide

A lovely little cottage situated in beautiful countryside. Ideal for early morning dog walks along the surrounding roads and then further afield at the numerous tourist attractions such as the Wye Valley walk and the beautiful Royal Forest of Dean. Highly recommended in all respects.

Location, Location, Location was just outstanding. Sitting on the sofa watching the sunset then going out into the apple orchard and looking at the stars was just magical. Lovely walks right from the door. Tim the owner was very helpful. A true escape from it all with the access across the orchard and garden on a flagged path. This March with the tremendous amounts of rain you cannot avoid mud but the provision of a box for muddy shoes helped limit its spread. The cottage is light and airy and furnished perfectly for two people and a dog. With the wood burning stove and storage heaRead moreters ensure it is cosy. Had a lovely relaxing 4 nights. So peaceful in the middle of nowhere. Some beautiful walks nearby which we and our dog loved. a proper home from home and everything we needed.

Lovely cottage and well equipped. Excellent TV and WiFi and excellent facilities such as washing machine, a coffee machine, and plenty of hot water. The log burner made for nice cosy evenings too. Thoroughly enjoyable stay and lots of nice memories.

The Pigscote Cottage is beautifully situated with unobstructed views of the orchard and meadows. Inside it is very cozy and fully equipped. The instructions received to reach the cottage were clear and accurate.

The cottage could not have been in a more scenic position, the only problem is the car park.You have to walk through the orchard, which is only a short distance but the path is made of stone flags which are not very even and could be a problem for people with walking difficulties? However if you have a word with the owner he would allow you to use Read morea different route which is far better to walk on!!! Hide
