Near to both Lymington and Sway, Pennington is a fantastic base giving easy access to its spectacular countryside surrounds. Enjoy days spent walking and cycling, with many routes passing popular country pubs where you can rest a while. Or take a trip to nearby Lymington and explore the bustling harbour and pretty cobbled streets, which play host to a popular market held on a Saturday. With plenty of cafes, restaurants and boutique shops on offer there is something for everyone here. If lazy days on the beach are more your style, take a trip to the sandy shores at Mudeford or Christchurch.

From the gravelled parking area, a path leads you to the private entrance into this detached single storey property. Once inside you will find a spacious open plan, well-equipped kitchenette/lounge/diner. With bi-fold doors onto the decking on two sides, this bright and airy room is the ideal spot in which to relax after a long walk in the nearby forest and offers a Smart TV with Netflix and DVD. Heading past the kitchenette you will find a well-appointed shower room, with shower and WC and an inviting king-sized bedroom with views over the private garden. A utility area in the bedroom houses a washing machine.

Heading outside you will find a decked area with garden furniture and BBQ wrapping around the property on two sides. There is also the added luxury of a hot tub to relax in after a day of exploring.  Ideally positioned to make the most of any sunshine it’s the perfect space to enjoy breakfast, or perhaps drinks in the evening. We had a lovely stay and could not fault anything there. Very comfortable and peaceful. Great for our reactive dog who was the quietest she's ever been.

Absolutely stunning lodge! We had a fantastic stay, Liz is wonderful and was very helpful showing us around and was on hand if we needed anything during our stay. The location was perfect, we enjoyed our walks in the New Forest. The hot tub was perfect for a relaxing evening in the bubbles.

The cottage is well designed just right for two people and a dog! Liz one of the owners explained everything to us when we arrived. The cottage is well equipped and the bed was firm but comfortable. In terms of walking your dog beware of the busy main road with a stretch without pavement. Pennington is a lovely village nearby. We visited the nearbyRead more mill pub and restaurant and had a lovely meal there. A group of very friendly and young staff working there. We would highly recommend. Hide

Pleasant cottage, not ideally situated for walks due to lack of footpaths. This was not indicated on the booking website. For non dog owners, there was an annoying stair gate across the bedroom door, obviously to keep dogs out of the bedroom. My second year here at The Retreat with my Maltese Henry. I love everything about it, quiet, relaxing with a beautiful garden. The property is excellent with everything you could possibly need and so close to many beautiful areas. The hosts Liz and John made me so welcome, nothing was too much trouble. I fear they may be seeing me again!

This is a delightful lodge. It is in a good position within The New Forest to explore all the coastal towns. Its close to several good pubs serving food. We wanted a short break after a difficult few months and this was just what we needed. A lovely welcome and location, well equipped, and comfortable in every way. Highly recommended - we'll be back to experience this again, but perhaps when the weather is warmer and definitely when it's drier.

The best place we have ever stayed in. Relaxing, private location. Well equipped with everything you need, and more. Enclosed garden, great for the dog to roam safely. This really is a lovely private getaway with all the amenities you could possibly need. It really is a fantastic clean self contained space which really suits my little doggo. Liz and John are fantastic hosts who give you privacy but are also around if you need something. The location is so convenient for either the New Forest or the Solent.

Beautiful property, well appointed and very comfortable, I found it very relaxing. My little dog was able to wander around the garden without fear of him escaping. Excellent secure car parking and the owners were very welcoming. There if you needed them but not intrusive.

We loved staying here. It was clean, warm, comfy and welcoming. We enjoyed the hot tub after a day out walking to soak the aches away! Broadband was great too so I could do the bit of work that I needed to do too.

Lovely cottage which instantly felt comfortable and both hope to have a return visit. The biggest bonus to me was the large covered hot tub which although it didn't rain on our week I wish more places put roofs over hot tubs!
