Breath-taking views around every corner, picture postcard perfect villages, traditional market towns, unspoilt landscapes and wilderness, miles of footpaths and cycle ways, and yet only an hour’s journey from major industrial cities. The Peak District is also home to stately homes and castles, including romantic Haddon Hall, imposing Hardwick Hall ‘more glass than wall’, stunning Bolsover Castle and of course, the jewel in the crown, Chatsworth House. A real foodie hot spot there are countless restaurants, country pubs, farm shops and cafes to explore so you can put your feet up and forget about the washing up. Don’t forget to stop for some Bakewell pudding!

Stepping into the barn the well-appointed kitchen is a delight for the keen cook wanting to make the most of delicious Derbyshire delicacies and artisan foods. It is fully equipped with all the usual appliances, such as electric oven and induction hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and a washer/dryer, along with a Nespresso coffee maker. A wood burner warms the cosy and comfortable lounge and dining area, alongside a TV/DVD player and music system. A store room offers space for damp clothes and boots after a day’s exploring. Overlooking the lounge is galleried bedroom with king-size bed and breath-taking views across the glorious countryside. The chic, ground floor bathroom has a shower over the bath and WC, and is stocked with luxurious fluffy white towels, robes.

Outside in the tranquil location are the gardens which help create the perfect place to relax. There is a sheltered courtyard area with seating and additionally there is off-road parking for two cars.

As soon as we walked into the cottage we were bowled over by its wow factor. Cruck Barn Cottage definitely deserves the 5 star rating. I particularly liked the dogs from the property next door popping round to check things out! We hope to return as it is a very comfortable cottage with excellent facilities. The views are wonderful and Barlow has great places to eat and is well placed within the Peak District for visiting the local area.

A brilliant welcoming cottage. Upon arrival met by the owner on the driveway, Quick introduction and then left to enjoy all the goodies left out for us ( fresh bread , jam. eggs , a cake etc ) Cottage clean and everything nicely laid out . A wood burner to keep us warm on the cold nights and plenty of scenery to enjoy

A true gem of a barn! We loved our stay and there was everything we needed to make this feel like home from home. The welcome pack was a lovely treat, the bed was comfortable and the stove gave the barn a wonderful cosy feel. One if the best properties we have stayed in. There are a couple of very good local pubs in the village a few minutes drive Read moredown the road. These would be walkable in about 20-30 minutes during light evenings. We have just had a lovely weeks break at the cottage, I must say one of the best we have ever stayed in. Really a 5 star stay, lovely cake, coffee, bread, juice and eggs awaiting our arrival, the cottage was so well equipped and the bathroom, robes and toiletries of a hotel quality, log burner kept us toasty warm and views were wonderful. Lovely well equipped barn. Very nice welcome pack. Cake was delicious!. Good location for visiting the Peak District. Good parking. Outside sitting area moved to other end of barn than that showed on photographs meaning no views.

Had a lovely relaxing week in Ash Tree Cottage/Cruck Barn, couldn't have asked for a better location as a base for the Derbyshire Dales. On arrival was a generous welcome pack including a delicious homemade cake, and we could supplement the local food sourced from recommendations in the owners welcome information with fresh vegetables from the gardRead moreen. A beautiful cottage set in a quiet, perfect location for visiting all the local attractions. It was extremely comfortable and well presented. The most delicious carrot cake and welcome pack was waiting for us on our arrival. We had a lovely, relaxed week.

This a beautiful, original and well equipped house that is flawless. The owner was so generous with our welcome pack, and of particular note was the amazing carrot cake, easily the best we have ever tasted! When it is cold outside, it is lovely to have such a huge supply of logs and kindling supplied by the owner, so generous and convenient. And loRead morets of varied walks within a short drive. What a stunning barn conversion in beautiful, peaceful location. The cottage was absolutely spotlessly clean and the owners had left some welcome goodies for us including homemade cake and jam. It is in a perfect location to access many attractions including Chatsworth House which is only about 20 minutes drive away. There are plenty of walking traRead moreils nearby too.
